Social Media Discussion: Past, Present, and Future

The global health concern that has affected my community is COVID-19, an infectious illness caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus. The health concern causes respiratory signs similar to flu or cold. It spreads through droplets from the nose or mouth when people speak, sneezes, or cough. The virus has disrupted the world significantly and caused many deaths. For instance, how people interact, live, communicate, travel, and work has changed. This means this global health issue that started in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, has impacted every sector of the economy (Kumar et al., 2021). The health sector has not been left behind and has been strained unprecedentedly. Even though its effects have decreased, the world will continue to feel them for a long time. Electronic health records (EHR) are digital documentation of a patient’s healthcare and health from nursing homes, hospitals, or pharmacies. Every type of medical occurrence is documented in the EMR. Even though they are created to assist healthcare professionals at the care point, they can be used for surveillance because of the massive amounts of data stored in these systems. For instance, EMR-founded surveillance can recognize COVID-19 patients with diabetes or any other risk factor related to the virus. This surveillance can assist the doctor in offering quality care to these patients.

“Universities must support students in avoiding higher-risk settings, especially crowded indoor gatherings. But requiring students to stay 6 feet apart at all times, even from long-term romantic partners, fails to recognize basic human needs and behavior.” This is a tweet by Julia Marcus, Ph.D., MPH, on 10/15/20. This tweet asserts that institutions of higher learning had a duty to protect all students from the virus by promoting social distancing. However, while fostering this behavior, respecting human needs and dignity is advisable.

The last known COVID-19 case has been eliminated. The battle has been won through governments and private-sector partnerships. The world needs to be prepared for such ineventualities. #partnershipiscritical #futurepreparednes Frontiers in Cellular And Infection Microbiology Discussion

There are many factors that will continue to impact community and population health.

Consider the past achievements in public health as many have implications around the globe.
Describe a global health concern that has impacted your community or those you care for.
Discuss what surveillance data could be pulled from an electronic health record (EHR) you have used or currently use in your nursing practice.
Take a moment to review the Twitter feed for compelling Tweets that are related to informatics, global health, and population health outcomes.
Share an overview the Tweet and how it is likely to impact future collaborative trends in community health.
Compose a 280-character or fewer Tweet that describes what you would like to see as a Tweet in the next decade related to public health achievements. Please try to be realistic, but also be visionary. Remember Twitter only allows 280 characters (this includes spaces, etc.) so you will need to be concise. It should include a hashtag. Include a reference URL if applicable. Share this Tweet in the discussion. (Note: A Twitter account is not required nor share your Tweet on social media).
Your discussion post should look like:
Paragraph one: Describe a global health concern that has impacted your community or those you care for Frontiers in Cellular And Infection Microbiology Discussion
Paragraph two: Discuss what surveillance data could be pulled from an electronic health record (EHR) you have used or currently use in your nursing practice.
Paragraph three: Share information from a Tweet and how it is likely to impact future collaborative trends in community health.
Paragraph four: Compose a 280-character Tweet that describes what you would like to see as a Tweet in the next decade related to public health achievements.
