Osteoporosis And Its Risk Factors Essay Assignment
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a bone defect characterized by weakened and fragile bones arising from excessive resorption of bone minerals that are not equally compensated by the re-deposition of the bone minerals, which increases the risk for fractures (Pouresmaeili et al., 2018). This paper discusses some critical aspects learned concerning osteoporosis.
In clinical practice, as a healthcare provider, I will engage with patients who have osteoporosis, especially the elderly population. Learning and understanding different aspects of osteoporosis, including risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment, will provide insights into effective management of the condition if experienced during medical practice. In addition, applying knowledge that helps identify patients at risk will enable the implementation of preventive measures which help enhance patient health.

Several ideas make the most sense, such as why the disease is more prevalent among geriatric patients and ethnic groups. According to Pouresmaeili et al. (2018), the disease primarily affects the elderly because of the physiologic changes that happen with aging. In addition, the prevalence of fractures arising from osteoporosis is also high among racial/ethnic groups. Unhealthy diets and lifestyle behaviors in minority groups contribute to the development of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis And Its Risk Factors Essay Assignment
The topic relates to current events as the aging population is increasing, and as such, cases of osteoporosis will also increase. The disease will significantly reduce the quality of life among the affected. In addition, the disease may also impose a high financial burden on patients and families. Given the implications, more research must be focused on developing other prevention and treatment options.
The problem can be more treatable by creating awareness of risk factors contributing to disease development. Patient education on maintaining bone health through lifestyle modification, exercises, and healthy diets can help prevent osteoporosis.
