Case Study “The Idea That Nobody Wanted”

Kalahari Digital Solutions, a growing technology and business services company in Windhoek, provides digital marketing, IT support, and software services to small and medium enterprises across Namibia. The company has experienced steady growth over the last five years and employs young professionals, interns, and experienced managers. Despite its success, the organisation has recently started losing clients to newer and more innovative competitors.

One intern, Melusi, who works in the marketing department, noticed that many small Namibian businesses struggle to manage their online sales and digital customer communication. Melusi developed an idea for a simple mobile-based platform that would allow small businesses to manage orders, communicate with customers, and track payments. Excited about the idea, Melusi shared his concept with his supervisor. However, the supervisor responded: “That sounds interesting, but interns are here to learn, not to redesign our business.”
