After completing the module, you should be able to:
1. Analyse the impact that work within the Criminal Justice System can have on Physical, Psychological and Social health.
2. Evaluate the skills required to build emotional awareness, resilience and coping strategies, including the benefit of effective supervision.
3. Evaluate the skills required to successfully lead teams in complex and challenging situations within the Criminal Justice System.
4. Critically discuss the complexities of conducting work across different agencies within the field of Sexual and Violent Crime.
5. Identify who and how others may help in achieving aims and desired outcomes and put plans into action (Graduate Attribute: Socially intelligent and proactively inclusive).
Part 1 – Reflective Journal Using no more than 2,000 words, reflect on a minimum of two difficult, or challenging, situations. The main body of your work should be structured in line with a recognised reflective cycle, and you should pay particular attention to the emotional response to the challenge, the skills needed to overcome, and any lessons learnt as a result. The journal can be kept regarding workplace challenges (i.e., day to day duties at work), home life (i.e., difficult situations), or it can be in reference to your studies (i.e., your time on the MA). Your work should also include a brief introduction which outlines what reflective practice and/or journalling is and should round off with a short conclusion.
You have the opportunity to submit a section of your work or a plan/ bullet points that highlights the structure and ideas that you wish to develop to receive formative feedback. Dependent on the method of assessment, the word count or format of your formative feedback submission will be given to you by your module lecturer.
The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner. As a distance learning student, you should submit your work via Turnitin.
