For this assignment, you will create a 500-word minimum expository essay regarding the impact of fallacies in advertising, as well as your assessment of ethical and legal considerations.
In your essay, address the following components:
- Begin with an introductory paragraph (containing your thesis statement) in which you address the fallacies in advertising and consider whether it is moral and/or legal to include fallacies in advertising.
- In the body of the essay, address the following topics:
- Select an example of a fallacy used in an advertisement you have seen recently. Include connections to two examples from the Unit 4 reading material.
- Is it moral to use this fallacy in the advertisement? Why or why not? Include at least two examples to support your perspective.
- Do you believe it should be legal to use this fallacy in advertising? Why or why not? Include at least two examples to support your perspective.
- Do you think fallacies are an effective means of persuading individuals? Why or why not?
- Select an example of a fallacy used in an advertisement you have seen recently. Include connections to two examples from the Unit 4 reading material.
- Include a concluding paragraph to summarize your points.
