Problem 6 ( 18 points)
a) Construct the frequency distribution first and show it (5 Points). You can use 5 categories with a class with equal to 10.
Create the histogram from the previous frequency distribution. Make sure you label the axis appropriately and include a title. (4 points)
b) To determine the most appropriate representative measure (mean or median) look at the shape of the histogram. (2 points).
c) Provide a measure of variability (2 points).
d) Provide the two values that contain 95% of the travel times. (4). Is this empirical rule approximately correct? (1 points)
Problem 20 (10 points)
a) Time series graph (4 points). Label the graph appropriately, 3-5 points will be deducted if labels are missing. What is the most striking feature about this graph? Look at trends and explain them in maximum 2 lines. (3 points)
b) Create a column of differences from one year to the next and then graph this series. (3 points)
Problem 36 (16 points)
For parts a – d, make sure you highlight your answer to each part. Provide the appropriate proportion for each part which should be expressed as a number between 0 and 1. It is not enough to provide the numerical answers only and I should be able to check your work with Excel filters that you used to get the proportions. Clearly show your work on the Excel file otherwise points will be deducted. Each part is 4 points.
