Coursework Task
You will prepare a climate risk and vulnerability assessment and adaptation plan for a named major international sport event or venue. The location should be clearly identified. If relevant, the time of year that the event takes place or that the venue is active for sporting events should also be described. You should then describe the current and predicted climate risks associated with that location
Using the climate hazards identified in the lectures, you will critically assess the identified associated risks, review existing adaptation plans and make recommendations to reduce the impact of climate change in the future.
Guidance
The assessment should make use of tools introduced in class and course readings to identify relevant climate hazards for each location and/or at the specific time of the event. You must include all of the climate hazards that we identify and discuss in class in your report. (It may be that you decide that the hazard is not relevant to your chosen event or venue. In this case you can say that you feel is not relevant, and briefly explain why.)
The assessment should indicate where each venue or event is situated on the climate vulnerability of sport organisations (CVSO) framework. This will require reviewing weather and event policies for the venue or event, to identify any existing adaptation measures and to ensure these are captured in the initial assessment. As well as the materials provided in class, students are encouraged to do their own research to find and check local, city-wide adaptation plans for any initiatives already implemented or planned that would reduce the risks of a climate hazard impacting the venue or event. For any additional measures found that are not initiated by the venue or event, you should critically assess how the venue or event would benefit from them moving forwards.
Each report should also include adaptation recommendations for how the organisation might further adapt to any foreseeable climate hazards up to a time horizon of 2050.

Format and Word Count The format is an academic review essay with correct referencing (APA format). The report should include an executive summary/abstract and reference list (which will not be included in the word count). The maximum word count is 2,500 words.
