Students will be asked to write a 2000 word essay (set out below), with a 1000 word Professional Development Plan Download Professional Development Plan(which needs to be included as an appendix). The focus of your essay is how your identified learning need maps against each of the learning outcomes for the module.

This essay should be about you, so apply the theories/evidence/literature/references you present to your practice – what does your learning on this module mean for your future practice as a newly qualified nurse?
What is the purpose of this assessment?
This essay and PDAP will be a plan for your first year as a NQN. It will enable you to focus your career development over that time and consider the particular challenges you might face in your new workplace and what you might do to overcome them. You will be able to use this essay and/or PDAP as part of your professional nursing portfolio and use it in job interviews and appraisals.
