Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is for you to display your knowledge of the job analysis procedure. It is also designed to give you hands-on experience in constructing a job description, with an emphasis on writing task statements and KSAO (knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics) statements.

Instructions
You do not have to do a detailed job analysis (such as identifying countless tasks and KSAO’s, nor rating and ranking tasks and KSAO’s). Use the following steps:
a. Identify someone (e.g., a family member, a friend, colleague, etc.,) that is working full-time.
b. Interview them for the job in which they are currently employed.
c. Since they will be considered a subject matter expert (SME) in their job, you will need to identifyand defend what makes them a subject matter.
d. Since you won’t have internal information (e.g., policy and procedure manuals, performance appraisal instruments, etc.) about their company to give you background data, you may have to do research on the internet.
e. Collect information and interview the SME and determine 5-8 of the most important duties/tasks in the job. Write descriptive statements for each of the tasks/duties.
f. Collect information and interview the SME and determine 5-8 of the most important knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (KASO) needed to perform the tasks/duties. Write descriptive statements for each of the KSAOs.
Deliverables
Part I: Despite the fact that you are only using one SME to obtain the job information, you are to do the following: Describe and discuss the company for which the person works. Construct an organization chart that shows the reporting relationships for the job. Identify the purpose(s) and the job for which you will be conducting a job analysis. Identify the subject matter expert and defend using them as a SME. Discuss the process you would use in conducting a job analysis. If you were to use additional methods, include a discussion and defense of those method(s)..
Write a job description using the job description template. You must include 5-8 of the most important duties/tasks in the job. Makes sure you write descriptive statements for each of the tasks/duties. You must also include 5-8 of the most important knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (KSAOs) needed to perform the tasks/duties. Make sure you have written descriptive statements for each of the KSAOs. Make sure that your KSAOs link to the duties/tasks.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use the actual SME’s name nor the actual organization’s name.
