This essay focuses on a specific group of historians writing in a specific period of history (the 20th century). As you read the chapters on 20th century historiography in Breisach and Bentley, please consider the variety of 20th century historians and historical schools of thought.
· Is there a particular historian or group of historians in the 20th century who have made a difference in historiographical thought? Remember, you are writing about ONE historian or ONE group/school of historians.
· Do you have some sort of affinity with any of the historians or schools discussed? In other words, who do you like, and why? The first question is more about importance and significance.
Important Notes:
· A majority of the essay (say 75-80%) should be taken up with your discussion of a major historian or group of historians.
· The essay you submit should be carefully scrutinized for errors. I tire quickly with essays that use “their” instead of “there” or “where” instead of “were.” Proofread, and then proofread some more!
· In general, all-purpose internet sources cannot be used for citation purposes. Exceptions are the scholarly websites and documents available through the APUS Online Library, or other academic websites. While indeed useful for a quick reference, Wikipedia is not considered a valid academic source.
· The number of students using generative AI tools to compose posts and replies is escalating at an alarming rate.
